Over the past couple of weeks, we have had several jobseekers reach out to us to find out what they can do to improve their chances of getting their next role. Here are our top tips:
A Good CV – don’t fall into the trap of over complicating things. A simple, concise, bullet pointed, well written and formatted CV in a word doc file is all you need. We’d recommend using a Google doc template for ideas and Grammarly.
Emphasize Your Accomplishments – It’s key to highlight accomplishments (career & personal), quantify your work, list key projects you’ve worked on, and successes.
Research – by researching the company and role you’re applying for, you can then tailor your CV further to show you have the relevant experience required (if applicable). If you receive an interview request then make sure you research the company & role again to be fully prepared for any questions.
Follow up – with huge numbers of applications for most roles it’s important to stay at the forefront of the recruiter/hiring managers mind. A simple follow up call or email can do wonders.
Stay positive – It’s tough at the moment for everyone but the market is picking up so keep going and stay positive
